CIL Opportunities
Founded in 1992, The Center for Independent Living
(CIL Opportunities) is a private, non-profit, non-
residential organization serving people with all types
of disabilities in Adams, Franklin, and York counties
of Pennsylvania.
The Center for Independent Living (CIL Opportunities)
provided free and confidential services to consumers without regard to age, race, ethnicity, gender, socio-
economic status, sexual orientation/identity, religious background, or severity of disability. All services
and special projects prioritize self-determination by people with disabilities include:
- Core Independent Living Services - Peer Mentoring/Support, Independent Living Skills Training,
Advocacy, Information & Referral
- Community Action - Initiates that promote positive systems change.
- Independent Monitoring 4 Quality Project - Quality of Life, Surveying of individuals served
by the Mental Retardation system
- Pennsylvania Accessible Housing Program - Provides Home modifications to individuals
with very low income.
- ADA & UCC Assistance - Comprehensive, on-site assessments, technical assistance, and
training on the federal and state anti-discrimination and accessibility laws
- Training - Individualized, interactive workshops on disability awareness and disability-related
issues; monthly consumer training series.
- Public Education - Activities that increase community awareness
